Customer Support

Our customer focussed approach ensures we put your needs first and foremost to provide you with the best solution for your application.

From your initial enquiry right through to specification and installation, we provide an informed and professional service every step of the way.

We have a dedicated helpline available Monday to Saturday and we also have several frequently asked questions on our website to provide you with answers to questions you may not have even considered.

You are investing in not only your home but with us as a company and we want to make sure it is an investment that pays off.

Fast, reliable delivery & installation

We aim to work to your requirements for a smooth delivery and installation process. From the initial survey we will listen to you and keep you informed of the process to keep disruption to a minimum.

Usually, we’re done in 2 days. More complex projects can take up to 5 days. You won’t usually need to move out while we’re working, we’ll clean up after ourselves and show you how to use your new home lift before we leave you.

Before every installation we’ll complete a survey to make sure that the i-lift is suitable for your home. Occasionally, we may need to carry out some additional building or strengthening work.

If that is the case in your home, we will let you know what is required, how much it will cost and how long it will take. By asking us for a quote you are not committing to anything, so you can explore your options fully before giving us the go ahead.

Service Plans & Warranty

Great British Home Lifts pride themselves in the reliability and safe working of their full product range, however, we do recommend regular services to your machine to prevent unnecessary breakdowns leaving you stranded without vital facilities and expensive repairs due to lack of maintenance.

We can offer extended warranties which includes a service every 12 months, parts and labour (excludes misuse or vandalism.)

We are accredited by Made in Britain, British Healthcare Trades Association and Approved Code Trading Standards UK

If an extended warranty is not what you are looking for then we can offer one off service or repair visits at a very competitive price providing you with a condition report prior to any works being carried out.

If we cannot repair your lift the same day, we will endeavour to return the following day.

We have a number of highly trained, CRB checked, NVQ Level 2 qualified engineers strategically placed around the UK, so you can be rest assured that we will arrive in a timely and professional manner and in the majority of cases leave you with a fully operational lift and most importantly it will be in a safe working condition.

Order Process

If you choose to go ahead with an order the next step will be to arrange a Technical Surveyor to visit your home. They will undertake a full survey to ensure a trouble-free installation.

We will then provide you with a finalised order prior to completing the work. Ensuring you are happy with the proposed works and keeping you at the centre of communications.

We will arrange to visit your home and install your lift at a mutually convenient time.

Once installation is complete, we will run through how to use the homelift and ensure you are comfortable with operating your home lift. We will also take pride in ensuring we leave your home clean and tidy following the works that have been undertaken.

FAQ’s

Is it possible to get stuck in an i-Lift when I am on my own?

No. If there is a power cut at your property, then the battery backup and the manual lowering system operated from inside or outside the lift cabin will enable you to travel down to the ground floor. In addition, we install a telephone inside the lift for complete peace of mind.

Does Great British Home Lifts manage the building work?

Yes, we can complete all building work or alternatively, we can forward on the Specification Guide to your builder. The choice is yours. Normally, no major structural work is required.

Why do you use a hydraulic lift pump?

The hydraulic pump powers the ‘Quiet Glide System’ providing very smooth, vibration free travel. Such a smooth ride would not be possible with a rope drive.

How much space does an i-Lift take?

The footprint of the i-Lift is smaller than that of a typical armchair. Please refer to size diagram on the website for accurate measurements.

Is the i-Lift safe in the event of a fire?

It is fire and smoke test certificated by an approved and accredited test laboratory, together with Notified Body certification concerning compliance with BS5900:2012 in relation to through floor lifts. This covers fire safety for the i-Lift in both the lower and upper position.

I plan to keep my lift for a very long time, will Great British Home Lifts service and care for my lift?

A 12 month parts and labour warranty comes as standard. This can be extended up to 5 years. You can call our aftercare service team to discuss the options available, along with the costs.

Can installing an i-Lift be cheaper than moving home?

Yes, almost certainly. We are often told by our customers that it was cheaper and less stressful than moving home.

What is the cost of the i-Lift Home Lift?

A member of the Great British Home Lifts team can visit your home and provide you with a personalised quotation based on your individual needs after a full site survey.

Is VAT applicable on a Great British Home Lift?

VAT is chargeable on all Great British Home Lifts but if you are disabled or have a long-term illness you may be exempt from paying VAT on products designed or adapted for your own personal or domestic use. If you think you may qualify for VAT relief, we simply need to you to complete a self-declaration at the time of ordering and no VAT will be charged.

How to apply for a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG)

If you have a disability and need to make changes to your home, it’s possible to get a grant from your local council to cover some or all of the work needed.

A Disabled Facilities Grant may be provided to you by your local authority to help adapt your home. This is specifically to allow for improved access to floors and rooms and to make it more suitable for your needs. As part of this grant, the purchase of a Great British Homelift can either be fully or partially funded.

The grant covers anything that contributes towards you living a fulfilling and independent life, as long as the work can be shown to improve quality of life.

Products such as the i-lift can vastly improve the quality of life for disabled people, they can provide a safe and comfortable way to move between floors without needing to use stairs. And, for many people, using the stairs is simply impossible, so a Great British Home lift may be absolutely necessary for them to continue living in their homes.

To receive a Disabled Facilities Grant, the applicant should make contact with their local authority. An assessment will follow after which the size of the contribution towards the work required to improve your home, will be advised. Homeowners may apply personally and the scheme is also open to those who live in rented accommodation. Tenants can apply for a grant through their landlords.

To apply for a Disabled Facilities Grant simply visit: https://www.gov.uk/apply-disabled-facilities-grant and enter your UK postcode. This should provide you with the relevant council’s contact details and a link to their website for more information.

A Disabled Facilities Grant offers a maximum of £30,000 but this figure can be topped up by local authorities for help with other home improvement projects for eligible residents.

VAT Exemption: VAT is chargeable on all Great British homelifts but if you are disabled or have a long-term illness you may be exempt from paying VAT on products designed or adapted for your own personal or domestic use.
